Vendors that handle client health information are required to protect it under a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement.

This includes sharing information for treatment, payment, and health care operations; with your written authorization; or when required by law, such as a court order, mandatory reporting of abuse or neglect, or to prevent serious harm, as described in our Notice of Privacy Practices and permitted under Florida law.
Business transfers. If our practice is merged, sold, or transferred, client records would be handled as required by Florida law and HIPAA.
6. Mental Health Information
We recognize that mental health information is especially sensitive. Communications between you and your therapist are confidential under Florida law, and we disclose them only with your written consent or as permitted or required by law, as described in our Notice of Privacy Practices.

14. How Long We Keep Information
We keep client records for the period required by Florida law and professional licensing rules. We keep other information, such as general inquiries, only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
